Beloved Actor John Mahoney Has Passed Away At 77

English-American stage and screen actor and beloved Frasier star, John Mahoney, has passed away at 77.

It is always hard to say goodbye to people we love. A great actor and world-favorite star, John Mahoney, won fans’ hearts many years ago. He is best known for playing Martin Crane on 11 seasons of the classic sitcom Frasier.

Mahoney passed away on Sunday while being in hospice care in Chicago due to complications from cancer. The veteran actor was 77 years old.

Mahoney played in the NBC series from 1993 to 2004. He won a SAG Award and had two Golden Globe nominations for his incredible work on Frasier. He was also the Tony winner for his work on Broadway in The House of Blue Leaves.


In one of his interviews, the actor confessed he preferred his theatre work to the high-profile national television:

I don't care if I never go in front of a camera again.

Mahoney never got worried about his rating as an actor, and he never chased after popularity and glory. He enjoyed what he did on stage and devoted all his time to acting. John never got married and had no children.

The casting director of Frasier, Jeff Greenberg, told about the late star:

I've not known a kinder man nor more brilliant actor. We were all blessed to have spent 11 glorious years together.

Numerous fans went on social media to pay tribute to the late actor.

John Mahoney was a television legacy for a lot of young actors. People of the world will always remember this eminent person as a true maestro of screen. Rest in peace, dear John.
