Penny Junor is a respected journalist and author. She has written many books about the British royal family, including biographies on Princess Diana, Prince Charles, and their two sons.

So, it’s safe to say that Junor has a very good insight into the royal life, and according to her, Meghan Markle is still struggling to fit in it.

Royal life is not for everyone

During her recent interview with Sky News, Penny revealed her opinion about the Duchess of Sussex, saying she is still getting used to the ‘arcane world’ of the royal family and it’s not been easy for her to become a part of it.

The author thinks Meghan needs to change to the very core, forgetting about the competitive world she used to live in and adjust to her new position. Junor said:

I think that life must be very difficult for Meghan. She's had a completely different life.

The Duchess didn’t know what to expect from her new role, she had no idea what she’s getting herself into. And now, she struggles to settle into it.

She didn't really know the British family or how it operated or what her life would be like. And she is clearly used to be her own woman, operating at her own hours and behaving the way she's used to get on in a very, very competitive world. And I think she perhaps hasn't yet settled into it. But she's not really being given much chance now.

However, despite all of her struggles, Penny thinks that Meghan is the ‘ideal’ partner for Prince Harry. Everything that makes her different from any other royal woman – her failed marriage, her high-profile career, her age, and even her race – makes her perfect for the Prince.

Junor believes that those exact attributes that would be frowned upon in the past are what will modernize the royal family and make it more relevant to the public. Do you agree?
