Janet Jackson and Wissam Al Mana’s relationship had started as a real-life fairytale. The couple met in 2010 at the hotel opening and after that memorable meeting, they had traveled the world together, basking in their love.
The singer claimed that she has “a deep connection” with Al Mana but what happened to their relationship, which ended in a painful breakup?
The truth about Jackson and Al Mana’s marriage
In 2012, Janet married Wissam in a “quite, private” ceremony. It looked like the two were madly in love and are going to spend the rest of their lives together.
But, according to Janet’s brother Steven Randall Jackson, her marriage turned into a “prison.” Steven revealed that his sister was not happy in her relationship with the Qatari businessman, who reportedly verbally abused her.
Jackson shared with PEOPLE that Janet is experiencing a lot of emotional pain amidst her divorce, but “enough is enough.” He said:
It was quite an abusive situation. It came on later in the relationship, verbal abuse and being [made to feel like] a prisoner in her own home. No pregnant woman needs to go through being called a b**** every day. There were things like that. That’s what she went through.
The pair were raising a son together, whom they welcomed in 2017. Since the news about their split appeared in the press, they have been battling in London courts.
Last year, the singer reportedly called the police because she was concerned about her son’s safety, who was with her ex-husband at that time.
It was said that the nanny, who was looking after the child, called Janet because she was scared by Wissam Al Mana’s behavior.
However, when the police arrived, the boy was fine and "there was no evidence of any crime.” We hope that with time, Janet and Wissam will make amends and put their disagreements in the past.
