Meghan Markle's Wedding Veil: A Cruel Joke Or A Noble Tribute To Princess Diana And The Whole Commonwealth?

May 23, 2018

Almost for a year people have been wondering what Meghan Markle’s wedding dress was going to look like.

There were lots of guesses and rumors. In the end, the bride opted for a work of an acclaimed British designer - Clare Waight Keller. Keller took the position of Artistic Director at the historic French fashion house Givenchy.

After the fascination with the dress itself has faded a bit, it’s high time to discuss the veil that appeared to be symbolic for the bride. It was her wish to have it embroidered with the flowers representing the distinctive flora of each Commonwealth country. Together they make a single floral composition.

And to top all that, the bride has decided to pay tribute to late Princess Diana by putting crops of wheat in front of the veil. They symbolize “love and charity.”

By all means, it was an awesome idea to have such a symbolic veil. However, Twitter users didn’t agree on that! Some claimed it was a bad joke in view of the British colonization.

Others said the veil itself was a piece of art. Anyways, let’s agree it was extremely beautiful on the whole.
