What was it all about?

While still on court, the interviewer tried to reassure Serena, saying that it was only her 4th tournament since welcoming a baby girl last year and that she played very well. These warm words made Williams emotional, who replied:

It's obviously disappointing, but I can't be disappointed. I have so much to look forward to—I'm literally just getting started. So I look forward to it.

She then proceeded, telling all the mothers from all over the world watching the match:

But for all the moms out there, I was playing for you today, and I tried.
