Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently stepped out for their first engagement as the Duke and Duchess. And from the looks of things, it was pretty eventful.
What was the occasion?
The newlyweds recently attended a Buckingham Palace garden party organized in honor of Prince Charles and the years he has dedicated to charity work.
The outdoor event was the first of many that would be held ahead of Charles' 70th birthday in November. Over 6,000 people who were a part of charities supported by Prince Charles were in attendance.
For the event, Meghan wore a pale pink dress and a matching saucer-style hat. Her husband gave a speech where he applauded his dad's good deeds and selflessness.
What was so funny to Meghan and Camilla?
During his speech, Prince Harry was interrupted by a bee buzzing around his ear. He had to take a pause to swat it away and declared, "sorry, that bee really got me!”
His new bride, Meghan Markle, must have found his swatting gesture funny because she soon dissolved into a fit of giggles.
It was not only the duchess laughed at the bee-interruption, Camilla, Prince Charles' wife, was also giggling right along with her.
Harry speech itself had some funny moments. While recognizing his father for his philanthropic work, he said:
Please can I ask you to join me in wishing the Prince of Wales a very happy birthday, six months ahead of his birthday. How very royal.
He also made reference to his childhood stubbornness:
So Pa, while I know that you’ve asked that today not be about you, you must forgive me if I don’t listen to you, much like when I was younger.
All in all, it was a fun and lighthearted occasion, which we think was exactly what the newlyweds needed as they headed out for the first time as a married couple.
