While the event did not lack in adorable and sweet moments, people can't stop talking about Meghan's choice of outfit. The Duchess wore an off the shoulder number that some felt were too controversial and might have even broken protocol.

Sure, the 2018 edition of this event made headlines. But we can safely say that there was no Trooping The Color event that was as dramatic as when Princess Diana made her own debut many years ago.

Diana was just 19 when she joined the family at the balcony on June 13, 1981. In her own way, Diana's debut broke royal protocol because she was not married to Prince Charles at the time. But no, that was not what people ended up remembering about that day.

Out of nowhere, 17-year-old Marcus Simon Sarjeant suddenly began to fire pistol blanks at the Queen who was on a horseback on her way to the ceremony. The police were able to wrestle Marcus to the ground but not before his many shots caught attention.

The teenager would later reveal his motivation to the authorities. "I wanted to be famous," he allegedly said.  Marcus was later sentenced to five years in prison for treason.

And what about Her Majesty? Well, according to reports, she was the epitome of cool and calm as she simply petted her horse and continued on her way.

Things were pretty smooth this time around

Compared to that particular fiasco, the Trooping The Colour ceremony of 2018 was pretty tame. In fact, it had such heartwarming moments actually.

Seeing the look of love shared by the newlywed Harry and Meghan, plus all the royal kiddos and their shenanigans certainly made this an event to remember.
