Today, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are one of the strongest royal couples. With three adorable kids, some might say their growing family is a picture perfect. But Kate and William’s relationship had its own ups and downs.
The infamous break up in 2007 might have put a dot at the end of their romance as the lovebirds were too young for something serious, but then they got back together and the life was peachy for them again.
However, even their first meeting was far from the perfect.
How did Kate and William meet?
The future Duke and Duchess of Cambridge met in 2001, while they were both studying at St. Andrew's University in Scotland. The two were living in the same residence hall at the university so it was inevitable for them to bump into each other.
When they were first introduced, there were no fireworks, no sparks, no electricity. Instead, Kate curtsied and William spilled a drink all over himself, according to royal biographer Christopher Anderson. It might be the more comical version of 'The Prince & Me'.
Kate admitted in their engagement interview in 2010:
I actually went bright red when I met you and scuttled off feeling very shy about meeting you.
William, on the other hand, played cooler saying he didn’t remember what happened. He didn’t mention the adorable drink-spilling incident either.
