James Garner’s childhood

And even though James Garner managed to reach so many goals and to become a great professional, his childhood years were not easy at all.

In fact, James Garner had a very brutal life when he was a kid after his mother died when he was just a 4-year-old boy.

His dad’s new wife terrorized James and his siblings, and his life seemed to look like a nightmare.

Whenever I did anything wrong she’d put me in a dress and make everyone call me 'Louise'.

There were numerous cases of beatings. During one of them, James revealed he was throttling his stepmother and was sure she would kill him if he didn’t kill her first.

James’ brothers hated her as well.

She was a damn no-good woman.

He suffered from the violent stepmother for years, until her marriage with James’ father ended. But despite everything, he managed not to give up and achieved everything by himself.

James Garner passed away on June 19, 2014, at the age of 86 after suffering a massive heart attack caused by coronary artery disease.
