Channing Tatum Is Ready To Be A Single Dad! He Wants Custody Over 5-Year-Old Everly Shared Equally

Channing Tatum is asking a judge to grant him joint custody to Everly Elizabeth Maiselle Tatum. The actor is ready to actively co-parent his 5-year-old daughter and wants an official custody schedule established by the court.

Love gone sour?

Tatum and his wife of 8 years Jenna Dewan announced their friendly split early last year. The news came as a surprise to fans, for whom the couple had represented a symbol of enduring love in Hollywood.

Jenna filed for divorce formally in October crushing any lingering hopes that they still had a chance to make it work.

Tatum wants to be present in his daughter's life

In a statement following their split, they made it clear that they had every intention of co-parenting Everly. And Tatum is following through by choosing to make it official according to court documents obtained by The Blast.

The Magic Mike actor wants to have Everly on Mondays and Tuesdays, while Jenna will have her on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Together, they'll share the weekends but that not all. He's also asking for an equal share of Everly's time during the summer break and Christmas holidays.

Jenna's new man

Tatum filed a declaration in which he claimed that their little girl would be better off with a structured plan in place:

Everly has appeared to adjust to our separation and living in two homes exceptionally well. I believe that she will thrive even more with structure and consistency because she is happy and more relaxed when she knows a plan.

Jenna Dewan has not reacted yet. The World of Dance has her hands full with her new man, Broadway actor Steve Kazee. 

The couple has been seen engaging in passionate PDAs, and the mom of one says she's very happy with her new man.
