Linda Gray, best known for her role as Sue Ellen Ewing on the hit CBS soap opera Dallas, has had quite a life!
Like many other stars, the actress decided some of her experiences were worth being put on paper and shared with the public and wrote a memoir about her personal life – her childhood, failed marriage, and relationships. However, one significant part of her love life was conveniently omitted.
Dan Gordon, a screenwriter and Linda’s former partner of 17 years, was shocked and hurt when he found out she didn’t even mention their love in her memoir, so he decided to share his version of the story.
“She is a liar and a phony”
For some inexplicable reason, in her book Linda refers to Dan as her 'friend', but they were much more than that. They started dating in 1996, and Dan did everything to make his beloved woman’s life a fairytale.
In a 2015 interview with Daily Mail Online, Dan recalled how he rewrote parts in his plays and screenplays specifically for Linda, how they went on exotic vacations together, how they shared plenty of romantic moments…until 2013, when Linda abruptly cut him out of her life.
In the interview, Dan said Linda ended their relationship over the phone and didn’t even condescend to explain her decision. He recalled her saying:
The relationship feels complete to me. It's just over, that's all.
That was after 17 wonderful years together, and during that time, they had become like family to each other. Dan was deeply hurt, and Linda’s memoir only added insult to injury.
He said about her denial that they ever were in a romantic relationship (despite ample photographic evidence, by the way):
I loved one woman for a long time as well as I know how to love, and treasure every second of it. I don't know the woman who wrote that book or prattles about authenticity, and gratitude and never having had a long-term passionate relationship in her interviews.
That woman is duplicitous, a liar and a phony.
Before Linda met Dan, she was married to Ed Thrasher, an art director and photographer.
They were married for 21 years (from 1962 to 1983) and had two children together, son Jeff Thrasher and daughter Kehly Sloane.
We wonder what Linda has to say about her 17 years with Dan, but she has so far remained silent about it.
