What Lies Behind The Magic: "Mary Poppins Returns" Bathtub Scene Is Blowing People's Minds

January 15, 2019

When Walt Disney Pictures announced they would make a direct sequel to the beloved movie Mary Poppins Returns, we bet many fans were skeptical. After all, the 1964 original was an iconic movie starring legendary Julie Andrews. Who could beat that?

But we should admit, the follow-up is no less incredible! This time around, award-winning Emily Blunt took on the title role and impressed the viewers with her performance. Besides, supporting roles don’t disappoint as well, as they’re played by A-list stars such as Meryl Streep, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Colin Firth.

But this is not it!

Mary Poppins Returns is filled with magical moments, and while some may assume all of them were shot using CGI, it’s not true. Take, for example, this scene, where Mary disappears into a bathtub, along with the children, to have an underwater adventure.

How did they do it?

Turns out, the director found a genius way to make the scene work without CGI – a real waterslide built underneath! The actors must’ve been really brave to use it!

The reveal has blown people’s mind. The post has been retweeted more than 50,000 times. Here are just some of the comments shared:
