Keira Knightley surely does have a long list of accomplishments!
The 33-year-old actress has been in the movie industry from the age of six. She first appeared on screen back in 1993 in Royal Celebration. In around a decade, she has landed roles in over a dozen films, but still struggled to get a breakthrough.
It all changed in 2002 when she starred in Bend It Like Beckham, which was a hit in both the United States and the United Kingdom. Since then, Knightley has won an Empire Award and has been nominated for Golden Globe and Academy Awards. And now, Keira has another achievement to be proud of!
The actress has just been awarded an OBE, which stands for Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire. Together with her husband and parents, Knightley was invited to Buckingham Palace where Prince Charles presented her with the honor.
For an occasion, Keira opted for an elegant yellow tweed skirt and blazer and completed the look with a matching top hat. She accessorized her look with a black ribbon, a pink belt, and chic beige heels.
Recently, Keira has also made headlines due to the incident with another member of the royal family – Duchess Catherine. In an essay titled “The Weaker Sex,” she criticized the pressures women experience after giving birth to children, using an example of Kate and her polished appearance after welcoming Princess Charlotte:
Don’t show your battleground, Kate. Seven hours after your fight with life and death, seven hours after your body breaks open, and bloody, screaming life comes out. Don’t show. Don’t tell. Stand there with your girl and be shot by a pack of male photographers.
The actress then explained that she didn’t criticize Kate, as some might have thought, but the society norms and expectations. What do you think about it?
