The world is reeling from the sudden death of NBA legend Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna. Celebrities have expressed their heartbreak through very poignant tributes.

Kobe Bryant was one of the passengers who lost their lives in a helicopter crash in California, ESPN reports. The 41-year-old sportsman's daughter, Gianna, was also a victim of the crash.

According to the outlet, the father and his teenage daughter were on their way to a basketball game when their helicopter crashed.

The cause of the crash is yet to be revealed. However, it was reported that it happened some minutes after the craft took off from the John Wayne Airport.

As the news was revealed only a few hours before the Grammys, Alicia Keys, who hosted the event, paid a special tribute to the athlete in front of the audience.

Singer Jennifer Lopez also paid her tributes via social media. She posted a bunch of photos of Kobe, his daughter and some snaps that showed how close JLo and her fiance were to the late star and his family. In the caption, the Hustlers star extended her condolences to Kobe's wife, Vanessa, who now has to cope with this double tragedy.

Former United States President Barack Obama also expressed his sadness. He described the basketballer as a "legend on the court," while also sharing how heartbreaking Gianna's death was.

Another pro basketball player, Dwayne Wade, shared tributes by posting some photos of him and Kobe on the court together.

Former POTUS, Bill Clinton extended his condolences to Kobe's family and the families of other victims of the crash.

First Lady Melania Trump was devastated as well. In a Twitter post, she extended "thoughts and prayers" to the victims and their families.

Her husband Donald Trump described the incident as "terrible news."

TV host Ellen DeGeneres revealed that her heart was broken after hearing about the tragedy.
