Jennifer Hudson Candidly Reflects On Her Pain Over Losing Her Mother, Brother, And Nephew On The Same Day

Nothing breaks your heart and ruins your life more than losing somebody very close. Jennifer Hudson forgave her brother-in-law, who mercilessly murdered her mother, brother, and nephew in 2008.

Hudson's sister's estranged husband William Balfour shattered her inner world by killing three people she truly adored. Though the young man got three life sentence, the Oscar-winning actress and singer stated she does not blame him 'entirely' for his actions.

I feel like for the most part, it's not his fault. It's how he was brought up. We tried to offer love, but you were so far gone, that you couldn't even see that.

Nonetheless, it is impossible to heal the wound that bleeds every day. In 2014, the American Idol finalist opened up to The Guardian about the family tragedy that took away her mother and brother.

I have definitely seen the highest of the highs and the lowest of the lows. You don't know how strong you are until you are placed in that kind of moment. I don't really know what else to say.

Hudson also said that she and her mother were religious and faith has significantly helped her in such a hardship. She added:

It was the ultimate help to me. We always said: 'If He brings you to it, He will bring you through it.' There would be no point in faith if it wasn't tested.

The Golden Globe Award-winning actress was in something of a daze when she found out about a fatal shooting involving her family members.

In many ways, the trial was the most dreadful part of it all. I wouldn't wish it on anyone to have to experience anything like that, but that is what you do for your family.

Jennifer Hudson concluded it was hard to find peace inside herself, but she managed to cope with unimaginable grief thanks to her child. She said giving birth to baby boy David was "the best therapy."

I went from being an aunt, having a mom, and being a child to not having a mom, becoming a mom, and raising my own child. I tell David all the time, 'You saved my life'.

It is impossible to imagine what kind of hell Jennifer Hudson has gone through. But as she said, if God gives you a situation, He will help you cope with it.
