Emotional pain cannot be compared to the physical one. It feels like poison consumes everything inside, leaving a large dark void in one's heart.

One of the most popular country musicians, Blake Shelton, has experienced such a feeling when his brother Richie's life was tragically cut short. The singer said his big brother was his hero and role model, whom he looked up to.

Shelton emotionally stated:

For me, my brother was my big brother. I mean, I wanted to be him ... So when he was killed in a car accident, it was literally like the world went silent. There was a void in my world all of a sudden, and I’m still not over it.

The Footloose singer was 14 years old when his elder sibling died in the fatal car crash back on November 13, 1990. It implies that the Sheltons will mark 29th death anniversary in 2019.

The 43-year-old paid a teary tribute to his late brother Richie back in 2017 via Twitter, writing that his death made him realize that "life is precious and there's no time like RIGHT NOW."

Copying with the psychological trauma is the difficulty of another level. Blake Shelton's heart still aches when he commemorates or thinks about his sibling, but their father gave him a good lesson. He told:

'Look, you will never, ever get over this happening. You're just going to have to learn to get used to it.'

It is noteworthy that Blake Shelton and his ex-wife Miranda Lambert co-wrote the song Over You in honor of the country musician's late brother. His former spouse decided to sing and record the song herself due to Shelton's very emotional connection with the theme of the country composition.

The All About Tonight singer concluded he hasn't gotten over Richie's death till now. His demise still shocks him and pain is still as strong as it was decades ago.
