He passed away yet something fascinating has happened since then: Bob Marley continues to live - in his songs and in his children. His oldest son, Ziggy, is believed to be a reincarnation of Marley and the spooky part is, he looks just like his dad.

A new generation of reggae

Ziggy Marley is a singer, a songwriter and, an award-winning musician. Following in his father’s footsteps, Ziggy made his name known in the music industry, becoming one of the leading reggae performers in the field.

He was born in Kingston, Jamaica, in 1968, and continued his father’s legacy by bringing reggae to people who haven’t even heard about it.

Ziggy and his siblings started performing together and after their father's passing in 1981, they formed a band Melody Makers. Ziggy not only provided the vocals but he also played the guitar, which is the instrument Bob taught him how to play.

Later, the eldest Marley decided to pursue a solo career and in 2003 he released his first album Dragonfly. 3 years after, his next album, Love Is My Religion, won Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album.

Ziggy continued to deliver critically-acclaimed music and in 2016, he won Grammy again, which became his seventh win in the category.

Ziggy says that his dad’s music became a part of him and he continues Bob’s legacy by sharing his talent to the world.
