John's legacy lives on in his son!

Though it has been more than 16 years since Ritter's passing, he continues to be remembered by friends, fans and of course, his family. John left behind his four children and although they are all grown up today, they still miss him.

John's oldest son, Jason Ritter, 39, even decided to follow in his father's footsteps and pursue a career in acting.

“I hope I’m making my dad proud — I’m just trying not to embarrass him,”

- he said.

“I try to live as honestly and simply as possible. That’s what he would’ve wanted. Of course, I wish things could have been different.”

John tought Jason how stay grounded

At the top of his list: the importance of staying grounded, no matter how your career is going.

"My dad, I think one of the most important things he taught me is that sometimes the idea of celebrity, it can feel nice but it can't ever really take the place of true friends and family and anythings like that,"

- the younger Ritter recalled during an appearance on People Now.

“He was such a loving dad,”

- Jason intimated.

Jason's success in acting

The man has already made his mark both in films and television. It was his role as Kevin Girardi in the television series "Joan of Arcadia" that put him into limelight. His acting skills were not just recognized by the industry giants but audience as well, who loved his portrayal and the angle that he gave to the character.

From playing Ethan Haas in ‘The Class’, to Sean Walker in the NBC series ‘The Event’, and even as the voice of Dipper Pines in ‘Gravity Falls’, Ritter bettered his art all along. He even bagged an Emmy nomination for his role of Mark Cyr in the NBC television series ‘Parenthood’.

We are pretty sure that Jason's father would be really proud of his success! John Ritter's legacy lives on in Jason and we hope one day he'll reach the stars in his endeavor!
