Viewers were shocked to hear the news and demanded NBC to explain their decision. The network said it was all because of ratings but some believe Lauer had something to do with Curry’s departure.

The former anchor’s emotional farewell was surrounded by rumors that she lacked “chemistry” with Matt Lauer so that’s why she had to be let go. Nobody knows if it’s true, including Curry herself.

In a candid chat, Ann shares the pain she felt when she found out that she lost her job:

It hurt like hell. It hurt so much, but I learned a lot about myself.

Curry believes she didn’t do anything that could possibly jeopardize her position. Instead, she was always ‘honest and true.’ The morning TV legend explains:

I can say I’ve done nothing wrong. I’ve been honest and true. I’ve tried to stay pure. I’ve tried to not respond in a knee-jerk manner, and I’ve stayed very close to who I am. So it hurt, but I’m also proud of myself.

Since then, Curry returned to the television with a new show, yet the pain NBC caused her didn’t go away as the network recently cut her out from the show’s anniversary montage showing the years she worked at it.

Luckily, Ann didn’t even know about it as she decided not to watch the clip. Many people tweeted her saying she deserved to be included and we think so, too!
