Michael Jackson's Ex-Wife Lisa Presley Said She Was Afraid To Have Children With The King Of Pop: "We Were Going Up Against So Much"

Michael Jackson's life had its share of scandals and controversies. Even his relationships were not spared.

Lisa Marie Presley and Michael Jackson's marriage may not have lasted very long but they did have the world's attention. The pair got married suddenly in 1994 only to get divorced just as unexpectedly two years later.

Perhaps based on a mother's intuition, Lisa's mom Priscilla Presley didn't approve of the marriage in the first place. Journalist Bonny Robinson once revealed that Lisa's mother "thought the marriage was ridiculous from the start."

Regardless, Lisa and Michael did go on to get married but they never had kids together.

The daughter of Elvis Presley told Oprah in 2010 that she felt the pressure to have children but even though she wanted to, she was concerned about the circumstances.

I was looking into the future and I was thinking I don’t ever want to get into a custody battle with him.

Worried that the marriage might not last due to Michael's actions and behavior, Lisa said:

I don’t want to do this, I don’t want to go head to head with him so I need to make sure that everyone around is good.

She said she wanted to ensure that everything was safe and secure in her marriage before they brought kids into it.

I wanted to make sure that he and I were really united. We were going to be up against so much.

After their divorce, Michael Jackson did go on to have two children with Debbie Rowe. And Lisa Marie Presley ended up becoming a mother and four.

Lisa's revelation about her concerns has made some skeptical.

They wondered why she married the pop icon in the first place if she didn't feel safe with him.

Despite the controversies, Lisa and Micheal maintained they cared for each other. And fans could choose to take their word for it.
