October 11, 2019

Losing a loved one never gets easy, no matter how many years pass by. It doesn’t matter if you’re the notoriously fierce Whoopi Goldberg.

Whoopi hasn’t gotten over her mom’s demise Whoopi’s mom, Emma Johnson, passed away in August 2010, but her daughter still fondly remembers her.

The pair were best of pals as ‘The View’ host described her mother as a confidant. The day after her mom’s first death anniversary, Goldberg took to Twitter to pay tribute to her mom. She wrote:

“Thinking about you, Ma.. every day. Miss you.”

Whoopi can’t remember when her mom died

Despite the close bond Whoopi shared with her late mom, the legendary actress revealed that she can't exactly remember when Emma passed away.

While that is shocking, Whoopi explained that she prefers to forget the dates as a way of dealing with her loss. While speaking to Closer Weekly, she said:

“I don’t remember when anyone I love passes. I know they did, but I couldn’t tell when it was. I guess it’s so that it doesn’t weigh me down.”

However, that doesn’t mean Goldberg has no memories of her beloved mom. She confessed that she sometimes sees her late mother in her daughter.

Also, she isn’t sad about her mother’s demise because Emma lived a great life!

A tight mother-daughter bond

It seems Whoopi has transferred the right bond she shared with her mom to her relationship with her daughter.

Goldberg gave birth to her daughter when she was just 18 and raised her as a single mother. In the process, they became the best of buds, and have been that way ever since!
