Lisa Niemi Opens Up Why She Had No Kids With Patrick Swayze: “Miscarriages Were As Painful As They Are"

Lisa Niemi and Patrick Swayze’s love story was one-of-a-kind. Even death couldn’t separate these two as late Patrick keeps living in Lisa’s heart and thoughts till now. The only thing she regrets is having no kids with her beloved one.

We both wanted kids

Patrick Swayze met Lisa Niemi when he was just 18. It was love at first sight for both of them. 5 years later, the lovebirds got married.

Patrick and Lisa’s union was the one blessed in Heaven. Sadly, but only death could set them apart. The actor passed away in 2009 after a lasting battle with pancreatic cancer. Lisa was by her husband’s side supporting him during all those long months while he battered the disease.

The spouses didn’t have kids though they both really wanted to. In a candid interview, Lisa explained the reason for that.

Deeply personal confession

Lisa Niemi revealed the reason for her and Patrick’s childless marriage in the Paramount Network documentary.

She said:

Both of us loved kids and always intended to have kids. I did become pregnant but I had a miscarriage. Miscarriages were as painful as they are… It was very heartbreaking.

Lisa added that she knew of Patrick’s desire to have kids and her inability to give birth was breaking her heart into pieces.

Patrick very much wanted to be a father because I think he wanted to be as good a father to his child as his dad had been to him.

The spouses had been considering an adoption option but they never adopted a baby after all.

After the actor’s demise, Lisa Niemi revealed one more thing she still regrets about their relationship.

She said:

I've spent two-thirds of my life with him ... My regret is that I didn't tell him that I loved him enough over that entire 34 years.
