Cristiano Ronaldo Bursts Into Tears As He Watched A Clip Of His Late Dad Saying He Was Proud Of Him:: "I Never Saw That Video"

September 17, 2019

34-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo has achieved quite a lot in his career. He's one of the most sought-after and celebrated football players in the world. Not only that, but he's also a proud husband and father.

Sadly one of the things that bring tears to his eyes is that his father never got to see him become such a huge success story.

The Juventus star recently burst into tears during an interview with Piers Morgan. He had just been shown footage of his late father saying how proud he was of his son's achievements.

In the clip, Ronaldo's dad Jose Dinis Aveiro was speaking about his son on his doorstep just before the Euro 2004 tournament which took place in Portugal.

Unfortunately, Jose passed away a year after this video was recorded. He died of liver failure at the age of 52 which meant he didn't get to witness Ronaldo reach major heights in his career and never got to meet the footballer's four children.

With tears in his eyes, Ronaldo said:

I never saw the video. I never saw that video. Unbelievable.

Ronaldo was just 20 years old when his father, who was an alcoholic, passed away. He revealed that having a real conversation with his dad was difficult.

But I really don't know my father 100 per cent. He was a drunk person. I never spoke with him, like a normal conversation. It was hard.

An emotional Ronaldo said it was sad that his dad never got to see him "receive awards."

Many fans reacted to a clip of Ronaldo expressing his emotions in such an unexpected way.

They appreciated the fact that he showed this human side of him and many praised him for his vulnerability.

Anyone can relate to the football star's feeling of pain and regret. And we have a feeling that if Jose were here today, he would have been super proud of his successful son.
