Antonio and Melanie Griffith tied the knot in 1996 and their marriage lasted nearly 20 years as they got divorced in 2015.

However, just because they are no longer married doesn't mean Antonio and Melanie don't have a good relationship. The actor once told Vulture that he still considered his ex-wife his "best friend."

I am not married with Melanie anymore, but she is my family.

For the duration of Antonio's marriage to Melanie, he was also a stepfather to her children, including actress Dakota Johnson.

Recently, the Fifty Shades Freed actress opened up about what kind of stepdad the actor was while presenting him with a Hollywood Actor Award at the Hollywood Film Awards.

Dakota revealed that she was six years old when Antonio "burst" into their lives.

He was so vibrant and so fun and so funny, and his English was abstract. We found it absolutely amazing. He loved my mother and my siblings and I so fiercely, and so big and so loud that it would change all of our lives forever.

She went on to add that Antonio taught her lessons about passion and discipline.

Antonio Banderas and Dakota Johnson's closeness

Even though the actor is no longer married to her mother, Dakota still seems quite close to her stepfather.

They have been pictured together at certain events and appear to have a good time with each other.

It's not always an ideal situation when parents split up but sometimes, this can give way for someone else to have a huge impact on a child's life the way Antonio did for Dakota. The actor is clearly the step-parent goal as he not only loved Melanie but embraced her children whole-heartedly.
