Bo Derek is an American actress, film producer, and model best known for her role in the comedy film 10.
Born Mary Cathleen Collins in California, the actress said she made up the name Bo when she met her husband. In the 70s, Bo started her acting career with Orca.
Following the success of her breakout role in 10 she went on to star in several films including Tarzan, The Ape Man, Bolero, and Ghosts Can’t Do It.
She met her husband, director John Derek on the set of his film Fantasies at the age of 16. Despite John being 30 years her senior, the two got married in 1976. They remained together until his death in 1998.
With her successful career then as a producer, businesswoman, and model, now, the actress is an advocate for animal welfare.
Over the years, she's been involved in numerous projects and shares huge a passion for riding, horses, dogs and wildlife conservation.
At her age, Bo is still making her own dreams come true, she opened up to in an interview with Middleburglife.com on what she has been up to lately. She said:
I spend much of my time working on wildlife trafficking issues as a member of the board of WildAid. I even served as the Special Envoy of the Secretary of State for Wildlife Trafficking and the Coalition Against Wildlife Trafficking.
Bo continued:
Former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger asked me to serve as Commissioner and Vice Chair of the California Horse Racing Board. In addition, I serve on the boards of The Disabled Jockey’s Foundation and also on the Del Mar Racetrack.
Derek confessed that she doesn’t go to the gym in order to stay in shape. According to her, she has found other ways to stay healthy. She said:
For me, I swim. I’ve always been involved in sports. I hate exercise, working out. The formal working out part, I don’t like it. I make every excuse not to do it. If I have to do something I like, it’s the anti-movement being weightless in water. It’s great exercise. It’s fantastic.
Well, it is safe to say that Bo Derek hasn't aged and she still looks great in her 60s.
