"This Is My Family:" Single And Child-Free Actress Loretta Swit From 'M*A*S*H' Declares Love For Her Former Co-Stars

Loretta Swit's 2019 pictures show that not only is she alive and well, but she also remains as gorgeous as ever.

The beautiful actress is most famously known for her role as Major Margaret 'Hot Lips' Houlihan on the TV series M*A*S*H. The role not only earned .her worldwide fame but also two Emmy Awards as well.

As for her personal life, she was married at one point. Loretta Swit's husband was Dennis Holahan. The couple tied the knot in 1983, but unfortunately, their marriage didn't last. They got divorced in 1995.

Loretta Swit's ex-husband was also an actor. He played her love interest briefly through the role of Per Johannsen on M*A*S*H.

Loretta Swit's interview: On co-stars, fans, and family

Since M*A*S*H stopped airing in 1983, one might have expected the stars to go their separate ways. But as it turns out, Loretta is still very much in contact with the people she worked with.

During an interview with FoxNews, the 82-year-old actress expressed her appreciation to fans of the show and how, they as the cast, became somewhat of a family to the viewers.

We went into your home every week and we have become your family. We got passed down from generation to generation. I think the writing was superb, the humor was intelligent…"

She also revealed that decades after the show ended, she and other co-stars still remain very close.

We might as well be joined at the hip. We see each other quite frequently... People always ask me, ‘Do you ever see them?’ When do I not see them?! These aren’t casual acquaintances from years ago. This is my family… So much of my life can be credited to my family.

Loretta almost left M*A*S*H

In another interview with the Television Academy Foundation, Loretta revealed that she nearly left M*A*S*H for another up-and-coming TV hit.

She was prepared to transition into the role of Christine Cagney for the TV show Cagney & Lacey. However, she couldn't get out of her contract with the M*A*S*H production team.

Fans probably didn't mind that Loretta did not go to the other show. It would have been heartbreaking to say goodbye to the iconic character at the time.

Loretta's Swit's loving words about her co-stars showed that she's far from being lonely despite being single and without kids. She can rely on her good friends and vice versa. It's nice to know she's doing so well at her age.
