Zendaya Coleman is considered one of the most successful actors in Hollywood under 25. She reached fame after becoming the star of Disney's show Shake It Up! and appearing in new Spider-Man movies. As of 2019, her net worth is estimated at $5 million.

Who are Zendaya's parents?

The young star comes from a very humble background. Both her parents, Claire Stoermer and Kazembe Ajamu Coleman, started out as teachers, which Zendaya credits for teaching her discipline and determination.

Claire and Kazembe have always supported their daughter's passion for acting and enrolled her in Oakland School for the Arts. They also drove Zendaya to her first audition for Shake It Up!

Zendaya once told Ellen DeGeneres that she owes everything in life, including her success, to her parents:

I gotta give it up to my parents. I’m really lucky to have the parents that I have. They just have always instilled in me those core values that I think I have to carry with me through everything. I give it up to them, I give it up to my family.

The Spider-Man star made her dad her manager, who puts the interests of his daughter first and keeps her grounded.

Zendaya's parents are no longer together

Claire and Kazembe filed for divorce in 2016 citing irreconcilable differences. Zendaya's parents got married in 2008 when she was 12 years old.

Luckily, the famous actress was 19 at the time of her parents divorce, which eliminated the need for child support negotiations.
