Even though the singer is present in his children’s lifes, there was the time when Chris Brown had to fight for his daughter in a bitter custody battle.
Chris Brown didn’t leave his kid
Chris Brown and Nia Guzman were just friends at first but they shocked the public with the news that Guzman was pregnant. Both kept the pregnancy under closed doors until Royalty Brown was born in 2014.
However, only a year later it was confirmed that the singer was indeed the baby girl’s father. Chris Brown wanted to be with his child from the very beginning so he went through a series of paternity tests to prove that Royalty is his child.
Chris and Nia then got involved in a devastating paternity battle as Guzman wanted full custody of the little girl but Brown didn’t want to give up.
The singer fought very hard for his daughter and, luckily, the judge was on his side. The pair now share joint custody but the Body on Me hitmaker has to pay $2,500 per month in child support. Chris Brown was so happy he had a chance to raise Royalty, too.
However, he slammed Guzman for seeking $15,000 per month in child support. Brown accused Nia of using their child as a ‘meal ticket.’ He wrote on Tweeter:
Some men my age run from their responsibility as fathers. I embrace mine. Just sucks that some females use children as meal tickets.
Brown was 26 when he found out about Royalty. At that time he was in a relationship with Karrueche Tran, whom he revealed he was trying to get pregnant. But Tran broke up with him when she discovered the truth.
Nonetheless, now the sweet-voiced star is very proud of his daughter. He often shares adorable photos and videos of her on Instagram.
The little one is now 5 years old and is clearly taking after her adoring father.
It’s evident that despite all the scandals and drama, Chris is a good father as he didn’t give up on his daughter even though it meant he had to fight for her in court.
