'Masterchef' And 'Strictly Come Dancing' Star Gary Rhodes Dies At 59, Leaving Behind His "Saddened" Family

Gary Rhodes, a London chef, was one of the famous culinary experts who captivated TV audiences for many years.

He was a restauranteur and a television personality whose passion for British cuisine was evident in his career. The talented chef was featured on such popular shows as MasterChef, Hell's Kitchen and was also on Strictly Come Dancing in 2008.

Gary Rhodes, as a chef, began getting the attention of the world when he got a guest slot on BBC cooking show Hot Chefs. At the height of his success, he had his own show titled Rhodes around Britain.

In his flourishing career which spanned over three decades, Gary also got to cook for royalty and even prime ministers.

Gary Rhodes' death

A statement released by Gary Rhodes' family to the press revealed that Gary passed away in Dubai on the evening of November 26. He was 59 years old. It was also stated that his wife Jennie was "by his side."

The Rhodes family are deeply saddened to announce the passing of beloved husband, father and brother, Gary Rhodes OBE.

The cause of his death was not revealed, however, the family asked for privacy during this sensitive time.

PR director for the Grosvenor House in Dubai, Jaideep Bhatia, said that Gary was actively working on the day he passed away.

He arrived in Dubai in 2007 and had two restaurants, Rhodes 2010 at Le Royal Meridien Beach Resort and Spa, and Rhodes W1 at the Grosvenor. He was working until the day he died. He was working until Tuesday.

Since the announcement of his death, famous chefs Gordon Ramsay and Jamie Oliver have paid tribute to the late TV personality.
