'Do The Right Thing' Actor Danny Aiello Dies At 86 After A "Brief Illness'

Danny Aiello, the actor from Do The Right Thing and Moonstruck, has passed away.

Danny's acting career spanned several decades. In fact, some fans might remember him playing the role of Tony Rosato in the film The Godfather Part II. This was one of his first major roles.

The actor delved into politics as well. He was named as one of the most influential conservatives in Hollywood by Newsmax.

Danny was very successful as an actor but before then, he was on the wrong side of the law for a bit. He revealed to the Staten Island Advance that before getting his big break, he was actually involved in real-life gang activity.

Danny Aiello dies in 2019

The actor's publicity company announced that Danny Aiello died on the evening of December 12 "after a brief illness."

He was described as a beloved "husband, father, grandfather, actor, and musician." In addition, the company explained that the family requests privacy during this difficult time and information about funeral arrangements will be passed across in due time.

Cher, who was Danny's co-star on Moonstruck, expressed her heartbreak via social media. She described him as a "genius comedic actor" and said that they had some great times together. She reminisced that being co-stars were some of the "happiest times" of her life.

Danny's death must have been heartbreaking for his family especially considering the actor's son passed away nearly a decade ago.

Danny Aiello was married to Sandy Cohen and together they welcomed three kids, Danny III, Rick, Jamie, and Stacey. Sadly Danny III reportedly died in 2010 at the age of 53 after a battle with pancreatic cancer.

Danny Aiello had one of the most impressive careers in Hollywood. In addition to being a famous actor, he was also obviously a family man with interests in politics. He left behind a pretty big legacy and it makes sense that fans feel sad about his passing.
