Having clean and shiny windows or mirrors is every home maker’s dream but sometimes, our efforts do not often pay off. You can spend minutes, even hours, scrubbing a window but still realize that it lacks the shine you are going for.

If your windows and mirrors have always given you trouble, then we have several solutions that will make your day.

How to clean a mirror without leaving any streaks

Most of us know of effective products that clean windows like magic. Admittedly, sometimes, rushing to the store and spending a lot of money buying cleaners is something that we would rather avoid.

As they say, necessity is the mother of invention and some people discovered that homemade cleaners work as well as expensive glass cleaners. Here are some amazing examples.

Clean mirrors with vinegar

An economical clean mirror hack is using a common kitchen ingredient like vinegar.

With 1 cup of water, a cup of vinegar, and 3 drops of essential oils (mint or lemon), you have a wonderful window and mirror cleaner that leaves no streaks.

Vinegar and alcohol cleaner

Pro cleaners know that whereas vinegar is effective in cleaning on its own, a little secret called rubbing alcohol adds an extra punch to the homemade cleaner.

Mixing ¼ cup of white vinegar (or apple cider vinegar), add a ¼ cup of rubbing alcohol, 1 tbsp of cornstarch and 8-10 drops of essential oil (lemon or orange).

Getting rid of globs

Sometimes, your mirror might be clean but you may notice that it has globs and goopy build-up from hairspray or toothpaste. There is a way to remove them cleanly without leaving any streaks.

First, rub some alcohol on a cotton pad and then rub the globs, one after the other in circular strokes. When you are sure all the globs are out, then you can continue to easily clean the mirror with your glass cleaner if necessary.

How to defog your mirror with shaving cream/toothpaste

Hot showers are awfully enjoyable but sometimes, fog on the bathroom mirror can be a nuisance. But there’s a way to ensure that your mirrors never get foggy.

Rub a tiny bit of shaving cream or toothpaste on the mirror and with a soft cloth, buff it up until the mirror is clean again. These products will prevent water particles from sticking to the glass hence getting rid of the fog.
