Ectomorph, Endomorph, And Mesomorph: What Is Your Body Type?

Have you ever experienced anything about your body when you got to the gym? Maybe you see others with muscles, toned abs, or something else. In fact, when it comes to training your body you don’t have to spend a lot on gym membership. The only thing you need is to know what type of body you have.

When it comes to viewing the perfect body for men and women, this means different things for both sides. According to a poll by lingerie company, men prefer a shapelier figure on both women and men, while women favour thinner bodies all around.

3 body types

It is unlikely anyone at birth is born as a muscle mutant. When you notice people with slim body shapes it could be as a result of their effort from fitness goals or it could be more than that.

According to a report published on Gasparinutrition.com, every human being has a body shape that is produced from genetics and other factors. In the 1940s, American psychologist William Sheldon categorised the body types as:

  • Ectomorph: People in this class of body type are described as the “hard gainer”. These are the people who take a long time to gain muscle in the weight room. They run the risk of remaining thin unless they eat right and avoid overdoing cardio. Characteristics of this body type includes small chest, slender look, and fast metabolism.

  • Endomorph: They are naturally round, soft, and stout with a high tendency to store body fat. People in this category have short arms and legs with tiny hands and feet. They have difficulty losing fat and slow metabolism. Despite having a large appetite endomorph gain muscle much faster than ectomorphs.

  • Mesomorph: In this category are people who blessed with natural muscle tone and strength. Features of this body type includes defined muscle, athletic body, and average to fast metabolism. Their body is often wider at the shoulders and waistline is notably lower than the other body types. They tend to burn fat faster than both ectomorphs and endomorphs.

Most attractive body types

According to a survey conducted by MailOnline, most women revealed what body type of the opposite sex they are most attracted to. They ladies were shown three men with different body shapes, boyish, muscular and hipster. Forty percent of the female audience said they were drawn to the man with a boyish body type and clean-cut look.
