"Humanitarian Crisis": Former FLOTUS Hillary Clinton Condemns President Trump's Immigration Policy

June 19, 2018 16:28

Three months after the implementation of President Trump’s new immigration policy that separates children from their parents at the border, more Americans are raising their voices in protest. To date, every single living former FLOTUS has voiced her displeasure at the new policy.

Former FLOTUS Laura Bush called the policy "cruel" and "immoral."

If we are truly that country, then it is our obligation to reunite these detained children with their parents — and to stop separating parents and children in the first place.

Michelle Obama also made her thoughts known on the subject with this stirring Twitter post. Like her predecessors, she believes that the new policy is wrong. She made a valid note in response to Bush’s tweet, supporting the need to avoid taking sides with parties against the good of the state.

On Monday, Hillary Clinton took the clamor against the new policy to a new level. At a women’s event in New York, she tackled the president’s claim that separating children from their parents was a law instilled by Democrats. According to her, his claim was “an outright lie”.

In her Monday tweet later that day, she called the situation at the U.S. borders a “humanitarian crisis”. In her follow up tweets, she also condemned members of the Trump administration who used sections of the Bible as justification for seizing children at the border.

In addition, she called on Americans to donate to causes dedicated to the protection of immigrant children in America.

On his own part, President Trump has made it clear that he will not be backing down on his position any time soon. He also made a stamen on Monday in Washington where he declared he would not allow the U.S. become “a migrant camp.”

Again, he blamed the Democrats for the new policy, despite the reality that even some Republicans have disregarded their party and joined the challenge against Trump. Meanwhile, Attorney General Jeff Sessions insists that building a wall is the only way to stop the current policy.

We do not want to separate parents from their children. If we build the wall, if we pass legislation to end the lawlessness, we won’t face these terrible choices.
