It was recently reported that the new museum was opened on Liberty Island, becoming the most monumental addition to Liberty Island since the Statue herself.

The 26,000-square-foot structure, created with the fundraising support of the popular fashion designer Diane von Fürstenberg, will inspire millions of visitors by its great history and give a feeling of freedom.

Oprah’s phenomenal speech

The media mogul has recently attended the opening of New York City’s new Statue of Liberty Museum. While having a tour around a new museum, Winfrey decided to have a little chat with journalists and discussed the importance of the Statue of Liberty and the whole country in general.

Oprah believes that America should not have closed borders and that it should show other nations what real freedom is.

It’s important that we establish that we are a country that has open arms and not closed borders for people. It’s important because we let people know why America is what it is. It’s about an ideal and that ideal is freedom for everybody.

Oprah also talked about immigrants, who came from different countries with one goal: to look for the American dream.

[They] came from famine in search of food, from poverty in search of opportunity. They came from violence in search of peace. They came from oppression in search of freedom. They were young, they were old, they were Jewish, they were Catholic, they were educated, they were not. But for all their differences, each of them came seeking one thing: the American dream.

It seems that Oprah enjoyed her time while celebrating the opening of the museum together with numerous other celebrities.

Oprah Winfrey’s speech about open arms and immigrants at the opening of New York City’s new Statue of Liberty Museum was indeed so powerful!
