Felicity Huffman reportedly paid $15,000 to get her eldest daughter Sofia into a private school.
The scandal ensued due to the nation-wide college admissions cheating scam, where the Desperate Housewives star was immediately arrested and charged with mail fraud. However, a few days later, Huffman was released on a $250,000 bond.
William H. Macy breaks the silence
Even though Macy is Huffman's husband of 2 decades, he wasn't involved in the massive scandal. However, earlier this year, the A-list actor said that the family was "in the thick of college application time, which is so stressful."
The Shameless's star also said warm feelings about Sofia after entering the college and before the scandal.
My daughter Sofia, the oldest, is going to LAHSA [Los Angeles High School of the Arts]. She’s thriving there. I know she’s going to make a go of it in the business, which I support.
Court documents alleged Felicity Huffman paid $15,000 she disguised as a charitable donation so that her daughter could partake in the college cheating scam.
The Full House star Lori Loughlin faced charges as she was arrested for college admissions cheating scam, after allegedly paying $500,000 to the University of Southern California for her eldest daughter, Olivia Jade.
Why wasn't William H. Macy charge?
Macy himself wasn’t charged since he was indicted just as 'her spouse' in the indictment. An FBI agent stated in an affidavit that Macy was in the room when Huffman first heard the pitch from a scam insider.
Moreover, there is not enough evidence that Macy participated in the eldest daughter's cheating scam since only Huffman's voice was recorded call about "$15,000 to take the SATs on her behalf."
