NCIS forever! CBS announced they have renewed the popular series for the 17th season, setting a new record on television.

The CBS Entertainment President, Kelly Kahl, announced the network’s decision to renew the high-rated drama for the 17th season to the great joy of numerous fans.

Kahl said:

NCIS has been a global juggernaut for almost two decades… We are delighted that the show will remain a lynchpin of the CBS schedule this coming season.

It means NCIS could set a new record as a longest-running scripted series. The show currently averages 16 million viewers, being the most watched drama on CBS.

Fans are so happy about the news

Earlier it was reported that one of the NCIS main cast members, Mark Harmon, is leaving the show. The actor said he wanted to focus on his family and take a little break from work.

Fortunately, Harmon will appear in the new season alongside other people’s favorite cast members. Mark Harmon, who is also an executive producer of the show, has signed a new agreement with the network.

The upcoming 17th season of NCIS is scheduled for fall 2019.
