Bourdain was celebrated in the food community for his immense contributions over the years and bagged several awards and commendations. Prior to hosting Parts Unknown, he hosted No Reservations on the Travel Channel.

Besides talking about food, Bourdain was also passionate about sharing his life experiences with people, hoping to help them along the way. And these are some of his most memorable life lessons.

Lesson 1

Under ‘Reasons for Leaving Last Job’, never give the real reason, unless it’s money or ambition.

Lesson 3

You learn a lot about someone when you share a meal together.

Lesson 4

Skills can be taught. Character you either have or you don’t have.

Lesson 5

Don’t lie about it. You made a mistake. Admit it and move on. Just don’t do it again. Ever.

Lesson 6

The journey is part of the experience – an expression of the seriousness of one’s intent. One doesn’t take the A train to Mecca.

Lesson 7

Your body is not a temple, it’s an amusement park. Enjoy the ride.

While some of these lessons may seem hard to embrace, they give enough reason for contemplation. And even though Bourdain is no longer with us, his memory will forever be alive through his books, shows, and the undeniable impression he left on the food community.
