Bizarre robbery story

Homeowner Erica Sampson got the shock of her life when she returned home from her shift at the Lincoln County Regional Jail where she works as a Deputy Jailer to find that someone had broken into her home. /

Sampson says she had been burgled in the past and has gotten fed up with the break-ins, but this time it was alarming because the thief took time to clean her house before stealing a cell phone and pieces of jewelry.

The officer believes this curious thief also had a bath in her bathroom, slept on her bed, and fed her dogs.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office has since arrested a woman identified as Heather Owens, 38. The bizarre woman is charged with burglary and possession of drug paraphernalia. But, this story is raising concerns about the rate of home burglary incidents.

But the FBI Uniform Crime Reporting Statistics says crime rates including burglaries and car thefts have been on a decline in the last few years.
