Meghan Markle is officially a royal, as she proudly carried her new title of the Duchess of Sussex when she joined her husband for Prince Charles’ 70th birthday. The event marked Meghan and Harry’s first appearance as a married couple.
The new Duke of Sussex has paid tribute to his father in a touching speech in which he teased him about royal life.
But now, Meghan is getting ready for the little road trip with no less than Her Majesty herself!
On June 14, the Duchess of Sussex will embark on the journey to carry out her first official royal outing with the monarch. Meghan was thought to be on a honeymoon with her husband, but it looks like she puts her royal duties first.
The Queen and Meghan will visit Chester, which is located about 165 miles northwest of London. The 92-year-old monarch and the duchess are set to unveil a new bridge in Widnes, Cheshire as well as open the Storyhouse Theatre before they sit down for lunch at Chester’s Town Hall.
While Meghan has been on a royal tour before with Prince Harry, this will be the first time she has joined the Queen by herself.
It was previously reported that the duchess will receive guidance in her first months in the royal family by a palace adviser Samantha Cohen, who used to be the Queen’s assistant private secretary. Cohen is planning to leave Buckingham Palace this summer, as she handed her resignation, but she agreed to stay as interim private secretary to the Duke and Duchess.
Maybe, by taking Meghan on the trip, the Queen decided to check what the duchess has already learned?
