Rumors about an alleged feud between Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle have been swirling for weeks. However, a warm moment between the sisters-in-law that happened at the Commonwealth Day service may be a good reason to think that they put their differences behind.

When the Duchesses and other members of the royal family attended the service at Westminster Abbey, Kate gave Meghan a kiss on both cheeks. It looked very sweet!

Was it genuine, though? A source told Vanity Fair that Kate’s warm gesture wasn’t spontaneous at all.

The kiss was deliberate, the source says

One of the Palace sources told the magazine that Duchess Kate knew exactly what she was doing. She knew that the warm embrace and kiss would be caught on cameras and would have the media and royal watchers talking.

Although the gesture may have been deliberate, it doesn’t mean that there’s bad blood between the Duchesses. The source told Vanity Fair:

They might not have a huge amount in common but Kate has no issue with Meghan. She wants them to get along, not just for Harry’s sake but because two royal sisters-in-law at loggerheads wouldn’t be good, and Kate knows that. For Kate, it’s about keeping their relationship professional and putting on a show of togetherness.

Harry and Meghan’s relocation from Kensington Palace to Frogmore Cottage fueled rumors about the feud, but the Sussexes and the Cambridges really want to be on good terms (and also want the public to know that), so Kate will see to that. Another royal source told Vanity Fair:

It’s not always been easy, there have been issues behind the scenes, but Harry and Meghan want to leave on good terms and Kate especially has been making a real effort. There are no bad feelings and I think Kate was keen to put an end to these rift rumors. She has no problem with Meghan and she has made it clear to Meghan that she’s there for advice or whatever Meghan might need.

Anyway, Meghan and Kate don’t have to be back-slapping pals to have a good, friendly relationship. But take as an example this moment:

It doesn’t look rehearsed or deliberate at all, if you ask us!
