Michael J. Fox and Tracy Pollan are one of these Hollywood couples that everyone looks up to.
The two actors met in 1985 on the set of Family Ties, but they started out as friends, as Tracy was dating Kevin Bacon back then.
They met again two years later, on the set of Bright Lights, Big City, and that time the timing was right. Both Michael and Tracy were single, so he didn’t waste his chance and asked her out.
They tied the knot a year later, in 1988, and they’re still happy together! How do they keep the flame of their love burning?
Michael and Tracy get candid about their marriage
In an interview with People, Tracy admitted that her love for Michael wasn’t love at first sight. She had assumed he was “cocky” and didn’t view him as a potential boyfriend.
Things were different when fate brought them together again. Now, after more than thirty years of wedded bliss, both Michael and Tracy think they made the right choice.
When asked what keeps their marriage strong, Tracy said:
Just give each other the benefit of the doubt. He assumes I’m doing the best I can.
Find the best things about you and the best things about life and celebrate them.
Another thing that makes their bond strong is their fight for an important common cause.
Michael was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1991, and he and Tracy have been vocal advocates for Parkinson’s research ever since. During their recent sit-down with Jimmy Fallon, Michael said that his foundation (est. in 2000) has raised a whopping $800 million since it was started!
A happy family of six
Michael’s diagnosis didn’t stop the couple from welcoming four kids.
Their first child, son Sam, arrived in 1989, followed by three girls: twins Aquinnah and Schuyler (b. 1995) and Esmé (b. 2001).
