Heartbreaking news for all DIY Network’s Nashville Flipped fans: Troy Dean Shafer, the star of the show, has passed away.

Troy’s brother confirmed his passing to TMZ. The cause of death hasn’t been disclosed yet, but he had no known life-threatening health issues. He was only 38.

Troy died in his sleep on April 28. The funeral, a small and private ceremony with his closest people in attendance, took place last week.

Troy moved to Nashville a decade ago and had dreams of making a career in music. But he eventually realized that his true calling is giving old buildings a new lease of life. Nashville Flipped ran for two seasons, and over its short run Troy showed viewers how an old, run-down property can get a complete makeover and become unrecognizable.

The DIY Network family is sorry to hear about the passing of Troy Dean Shafer, a dedicated, driven entrepreneur and restoration expert who was admired by everyone who worked on the series 'Nashville Flipped'.

We continue to extend our deepest condolences to Troy’s family and friends during this difficult time.
