Crackdown On Houston-Based Online Sexual Exploitation Network Is Raising Awareness About Child Pornography Among Parents

A senior police officer in Houston has been indicted in a child abuse crime after months of investigation.

Operation Broken Heart

The man, Stephen McGee, was discovered to be part of a network across at least 8 southeastern Texas counties that had been enabling the online sexual exploitation of children.

McGee was arrested after a 3-month long investigation called Operation Broken Heart. The crackdown, led by multiple agencies, uncovered numerous crimes against him.

Houston Police Chief, Art Acevedo, who listed out some of the charges against the arrested officer, said the 44-year-old McGee had been in possession of child erotica among other crimes.

What is most disturbing about a crime like McGee's is that children are often left exposed to men like him, especially on the internet without protection.

On their part, parents should be fully involved in their children's social lives to ensure that questionable people do not have access to them. Finally, report any suspicion of abuse to a child protection service agency.
