The royals grew up in the spotlight and had to go through the loss together when their mom, Princess Diana, passed away in 1997. To keep a memory of her, they picked a few jewelry pieces from her personal collection.

As the People Princess’ butler Paul Burrell revealed in the Amazon Prime documentary The Diana Story, William was quick to pick his mom’s Cartier watch, while his younger brother took her blue engagement ring, saying:

I remember when I held mummy's hand when I was a small boy and that ring always hurt me because it was so big.

But how did this ring happen to be in Kate’s and not Meghan’s possession?

Well, when William decided to propose to his beloved, Harry gave the ring away. Why so? Because he truly believed that the future king should have it!
