Big Brother is back! CBS announced that the show is returning with a two-night premiere in June.

What is 'Big Brother'?

Big Brother is a reality game show with its name taken from a fictional character in George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four novel.

The show was created in 1997 by producer John de Mol and launched in 2000. The game show involves contestants living together in a home under constant surveillance, where one housemate gets evicted each week.

The contestants will not have any communication whatsoever with the outside world, as they will be completely isolated. The last contestant standing will earn a grand prize of $500,000.

Since its inception, the series has been a hit for CBS and has two spin-offs: Big Brother: Over the Top and Celebrity Big Brother.
