December 19, 2019

In December 2018, Kensington Palace actually stepped up and denied one of the rumors involving Kate being mad at Meghan for how the Duchess of Sussex treated her staff, as was confirmed by PEOPLE at the time. It helped resolve one issue, but many still suspected something fishy going on within the royal family.

In 2019, the Sussexes and the Cambridges officially stopped working together by splitting their charities, and we rarely saw the Fab Four during joint appearances. However, it might have to change very soon.

Kate and Meghan will need to unite for the family

Katie Nicholl, a renowned royal expert, spoke with Closer magazine about the Queen's impending retirement and how it will affect the Duchess of Cambridge and the Duchess of Sussex:

I think after a festive break, both Kate and Meghan will know that joint ventures to support the Queen are not only part of their duty, but also good for the public image.

She continued:

[Kate] knows the pressure is on her and Meghan to save the royal family, to an extent.

Nicholl believes that the Queen will definitely start relieving herself of some of her duties, which will fall on the two Duchesses. In addition, their families will also have to come together to help share responsibilities:

Although the Cambridges and Sussexes have their own charities, I think the Queen's move towards retirement will force them to work closely with each other.

The Queen is a big fan of Kate Middleton

Queen Elizabeth II, who is very likely to abdicate her throne at 95, is very grateful to have Kate Middleton in her family, according to Nicholl:

The Queen is a fan. Kate is unflappable. Her mantra is very like the Queen’s keep calm and carry on approach in life, and she has the added benefit of making the Royal Family seem almost normal and in touch.

So it's no wonder Her Majesty will want Kate to take over some of her duties, seeing how much she trusts the Duchess. We certainly don't mind seeing more of Middleton!
