Queen Joked People Wanted Her Perished After Being Gifted Poisonous Plant Twice In One Week

After spending over half of your life in the public eye, you’ve got to develop a healthy sense of humor. Just look at Queen Elizabeth, she knows how to have a good laugh!

Don’t be fooled by the monarch stern and regal exterior, inside she is a real jokester. Her Majesty knows how to deliver a one-liner that can crack up an entire room, like she once did at the Chelsea Flower Show in 2016.

Queen Elizabeth’s joke

Queen Elizabeth II proved she doesn’t take everything seriously when she joked that people want to finish her off.

During the 2016 Chelsea Flower Show, the monarch was gifted a bouquet of flowers, one of which was poisonous. It actually happened twice in the same week!

The flower in question was Lily of the Valley. When the Queen was speaking to her gardener Jekka McVicar, Jekka informed her that Lily of the Valley was historically used as a poison.

According to Hello!, McVicar recalled the conversation with the monarch:

She said, 'I've been given two bunches this week. Perhaps they want me dead'.

Who would have thought that Her Majesty is the comedian of the family? She is known to throw a couple of gags into her official speeches, too.

Last year, during the Christmas address, the Queen talked about the events 2018 had brought, joking that the two royal weddings and the birth of her great-grandchild kept her busy. How can someone not love her!
