Kate Middleton is known for recycling her outfits, even for such staggering occasions as royal weddings. However, the mother-of-three typically pairs her already-worn numbers with something extravagant, such as a new gorgeous hairstyle or elegant jewelry to draw attention.

There are two things Duchess Catherine does not to upstage the bride at royal weddings. What are they?

Prince William's wife is not a rule-breaker, and she, therefore, follows a fundamental rule of royal wedding dressing, which is not to upstage the bride.

According to royal correspondent Camilla Tominey, most of the royal women follow the tradition to rewear dresses they have already been pictured in to nuptials. For instance, Kate Middleton wore an Alexander McQueen coatdress to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's royal wedding in 2018, after having worn it twice before to Princess Charlotte's christening in 2015 and the Trooping the Colour parade in 2016.

Tradition #2 that Kate Middleton has followed involves wearing something designed by her own wedding dress designer, Alexander McQueen. She wore another Alexander McQueen dress to Princess Eugenie's wedding in October 2018, and royal fans noticed it was strikingly similar to the one she wore to the Trooping the Colour parade a year before the celebration.

Another royal commentator, Kristen Meinzer, told Insider that the tradition of rewearing outfits might be a bit "overstated" but that's something both Duchess Catherine and Duchess Meghan do.

Tradition may be overstated, but it's something that both Kate and Meghan have been known to do, most recently at Eugenie's wedding. It's a way to show some nostalgia for their own days without overshadowing the bride. After all, it's just them wearing their favorite designer again.

Well, that's kind of interesting, isn't it? Since Kate Middleton is always in the spotlight, she needs to follow this rule not to steal the bride's thunder for the Big Day.
