It looks like time has no power over this man! Mary Poppins star Dick Van Dyke's career spans seven decades and he doesn’t plan to quit just yet. Did he drink from the fountain of youth or what? How does he stay so energetic in his nineties?
The actor’s secret of a remarkable young spirit and energy is simple: he always keeps moving, something he recommends to everyone in his age group. In an interview with Parade, he said he wakes up at six every morning and goes to the gym.
Van Dyke also has a more fun way to stay active. He told Parade he and his young wife, Arlene, enjoy dancing and that’s what they do whenever they are in the mood! He said:
You do a little dancing every day. If I go into a store and there’s music playing, then I’m dancing. In the market every morning. I can’t help it! Any kind of movement like that will help keep joints and bones moving.
And my wife keeps me young! She has a lot of energy. She’s a singer and a dancer, so we do musicals around here all day.
The actor also said he doesn’t plan to retire from the big screen any time soon.
The actor’s wife, Arlene, is half his age. They tied the knot in February 2012 and proved skeptics wrong! Their marriage is going strong and the age difference never gets in the way.
The couple is living their best life and has lots of fun together! Speaking to Huffington Post, Arlene revealed what it’s like to be married to a ninety-something who says he's “about 13 emotionally”:
He is a lot of fun. He’s not immature in a bad way. He’s immature in a good way with the wonder of a child. He’s just fun, he’s open minded. He’s not stuck in his ways at all. We’re both like children. We feel like we’re both having a second childhood.
Despite being in his nineties, Dick Van Dyke is young and energetic. And finally, he shared the secret of his long-lastic youthful spirit, and energy. Together with wife Arlene, he lives life to the fullest and enjoys every moment of it.
