Adding more to the curiosity, there is not much known about this governmental couple. They had met in 1983 and both ultimately became evangelical Christians. Mike and Karen rarely make a public appearance together. The Second Lady is credited to be the former First Lady of Indiana from 2013 to 2017. So to speak, rest about their private family lives is just mystery!

Unusual marriage rules

The couple has attracted a considerable amount of controversies. The Rollingstone Magzine published a scene from a dinner at the governor’s mansion where Mike had hosted for Democratic state lawmakers. There in front of his guests, Pence was overheard to be shouting to Karen over the other end of the table:

Mother, Mother, who prepared our meal this evening?

To his defense, Carl Sferrazza Anthony, a historian of first ladies remarked that it's not uncommon for the highest rungs within Government to call their wives 'Mother' or some variation of it. According to him, Abraham Lincoln called Mary 'Mother' too.

Karen also revealed in her interview to CBN news that Mike encourages her to always put God before him right from the start. His religious inclination can justify that.

His wife rebuked him

Author, Michael Lewis threw some shade at Mike and Karen possibly cold relationship. He described in his book, The Fifth Risk the moment Donald and his Vice President Pence won the elections. When Mike went over to kiss his wife and she rebuked him and said:

You got what you wanted Mike. Now leave me alone.

Of course, every family has certain rules, but we don't often hear about such unusual ones. Does these chilling inside details of Mike and Karen's marriage strike you as weird or just coincidental?
